Skills and experience
Skills
Ten skills: five of weapons – blade, axe, blunt, polearm, ranged – and five of magic – fire, water, air, earth, astral. A skill grows by use: the experience of a blow goes into the skill it was struck with. The first points come quickly, each next one costs more.
- The main skill is chosen when the hero is made and grows faster than the rest.
- A class has an “advanced” skill – ranged for the warrior, astral for the mage: it grows faster than the other secondary ones.
- Mind speeds growth: with low Mind a hero gets a small share of the experience.
Experience and level
Every blow on a creature brings a share of its experience equal to the share of its health the blow took; nothing extra is given for the kill itself. A hero’s experience is the sum of all its skills, and it sets the level (up to 100). Levels give health, mana, attack and defence and open the portals to higher lands.
| Level | Total experience | Step to it |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 100 | 100 |
| 5 | 1 000 | 400 |
| 10 | 4 500 | 900 |
| 20 | 19 000 | 1 900 |
| 30 | 43 500 | 2 900 |
| 40 | 91 623 | 6 825 |
| 50 | 190 579 | 12 658 |
| 60 | 357 035 | 20 158 |
| 70 | 607 658 | 29 325 |
| 75 | 769 740 | 34 533 |
| 80 | 959 114 | 40 158 |
| 90 | 1 428 070 | 52 658 |
| 100 | 2 031 193 | 66 825 |
Experience is scaled by Mind against the level: levelling neither eases nor hardens as the hero grows. A defeat costs 10% of the way to the next level, but never drops below the start of the current one.
